Every year, during the month of June, the LGBT community celebrates in a number of different ways. Across the globe, various events are held during this special month as a way of recognising the influence LGBT people have had around the world. It all began when the Stonewall Riots took place, way back in 1969.

Pride Month is so important because it marks the start of huge change within the LGBT+ community, as well as the wider societal implications. Here is a list compiled by those within the community, including by writer Artie Carden.

📚 We Can Do Better Than This by Amelia Abraham

📚 Gender Trauma by Alex Iantaffi

📚 Heartstopper by Alice Oseman

📚 Queer Body Power by Essie Dennis

📚 Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex by Angela Chen

📚 The Transgender Issue by Shon Faye

📚 Sensible Footwear: A Girl’s Guide by Kate Charlesworth

📚 Non-Binary Lives: An Anthology of Intersecting Identities edited by Jos Twist, Ben Vincent, Meg-John Barker and Kat Gupta
